Principal's Message

Empowering students for success in a global and evolving world.
Welcome to the American School of Ulaanbaatar Secondary School.

I believe the learner should be at the center of the decisions we make as a school. Teachers and families sit closely around that learner, and their experience and perspectives should help shape the school we build together. Being heard also comes with responsibility. We expect our students to increasingly take ownership of their education, while knowing they will be challenged and supported along the way.

The decisions we make should have a reason behind them. Evidence, data, and research are more useful than assumptions, but context matters. An idea is not automatically right for ASU because it worked somewhere else. We should understand why we do something, examine whether it is working for our students, and be willing to improve it when necessary.

I approach technology in much the same way. New tools, including artificial intelligence, can strengthen education when they serve a clear purpose. Our role is to help students use them thoughtfully without allowing technology to do the learning for them.

As Principal, I want ASU to be a school where students have a meaningful voice, teachers are trusted as professionals, and families know their perspective matters. We should also keep learning as a school, building on what works and improving what does not.

Our motto is “Home of Future Leaders.” If we want students to become future leaders, we should give them meaningful opportunities to begin becoming those leaders today.
