I am very pleased to welcome you, staff and students to the 2011-2012 academic year.

Our motto is “Learn, Achieve, Lead” and our goal is simple—we want to be the best academic institution possible.  Our focus this year is to emphasize quality learning and discipline in our school and classrooms.

We look forward to a very productive year with many returning students and an ever increasing number of new students.  Our academic, support and administrative staff is well qualified and dedicated to providing your child with the best learning support possible. 2011-2012 School Year starts Monday 29th, August 2011.

WELCOME TO OUR SCHOOL!

School Year Openning Ceremony Starts at 8:30 a.m.

Administration, teachers and program assistants will be introduced.  Students will be called up to join their homeroom teachers in then proceed to their classrooms.  We hope that all parents will join us with their children for this very special moment.  Parents are welcome to follow their children into the classrooms, meet the teachers, other parents and your children’s new classmate.

• ASU Celebrated Earth  Day all  Month

Our Environment and the Impact We All Have on Our Planet

Children, teachers and administrators make the grade by increasing awareness of the environment and the impact we all have on our planet.  When it comes to going green, ASU should get an A-plus for their efforts.  ASU formed an Earth Month Committee (Chris Maconachie, Megan Bond, JuHye Ahn) that was dedicated to global awareness.  They shared a month long schedule of ideas and activities that got all teachers and students involved.  There were contests, projects, field trips, donations and much, much, more all month leading up to Earth Day.  Each day a class shared tips for saving the Earth at morning announcements. All month, classes were focused on ways they can make a difference. On Earth Day, April 22, ASU held a special assembly.  It is never too early to teach children about doing their part to take care of the Earth.

We have had a wonderful 2010-2011 school year and it is not over yet!

• May 31:  PK-2 Music program at 3:30
• June 1:  No School—Mother’s Day
• June 6 & 8:  Last days for Afterschool Activities
• June 6, 7, 8:  Grade 9-11 Exams
• June 10: 12th Grade Graduation
• June 15:  Sports Day
• June 17:  Last Day of School (half-day); End of Year Report Cards & Students dismissed at noon

 

• February 13—17 the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) sent a visiting team to ASU to view our school and determine our term of accreditation.
